In Kenya’s Rift Valley, rising water levels in lakes such as Nakuru, Naivasha, and Baringo are becoming a serious concern for communities and conservationists alike. Over the past decade, lake levels have risen dramatically, causing severe flooding of farmland, residential areas, and even entire ecosystems.

Across Kenya, especially in major cities like Nairobi and Mombasa, young activists are mobilizing to demand stronger climate action from the government. Hundreds of youth took to the streets this week, carrying banners and chanting slogans, as part of a global climate protest movement aimed at drawing attention to the urgent need for climate reform.

Severe droughts continue to plague Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL), leaving millions at risk of food and water shortages as climate conditions worsen. Spanning large regions such as Turkana, Garissa, and Mandera, these areas are experiencing one of the longest and most intense dry spells on record.
